Toof!

Peanut has some news for everyone. She finally got her first tooth! Finally. She’s been teething for far too long and I’m glad to finally see a result of all her painful hard work. “It’s a ‘th’ sweetheart – – it’s tooth”- horton hears a who Can you see it? We are very proud of that tooth and can’t wait for it’s buddy to come peeking through, it too is almost here.

flipotomiss

We’ve been sick round these parts. Horrible coughs and nasty green runny noses. I don’t know what it is about boys…they don’t do sick well at all. Constant cries and hugs and I’m not just talking about my 2 yr old either, this applies to “boys” of all ages.

Wednesday Bug spiked a fever. She was hot during the night and that morning so I have her some advil, but 4 hours later she was up to 105.8. Scared the crap out of me and I can usually handle fever. I had my neighbor watch the peanut while I bustled Bug and Boo into the car to go to the dr. I love my pediatrician, she’s an NP but for four years she’s always knowledgeable and excellent with my kids. She was worried about Bug’s fever spiking so high and the cough that she’s had for the week prior, hoping it wasn’t pneumonia but wanting to make sure. She didn’t hear the telltale rattle in Bugs chest but just in case sent us over to the outpatient lab to do x-rays and blood tests.

Bug handled it like a champ! I wish I had taken a  picture but she was so cute sitting on the chair in funny positions so the technician could get the right angle for the chest x-rays. I’m so used to when I was little and having to wait to have the film developed, I found it fascinating that we could see the result immediately. Bug was fascinated too, she asked to see her pictures and the technician said yes. She was a little confused but she now says with pride that she got a picture taken of her lungs and heart.

I was fearful of the bloodwork and Bug’s reaction. She freaked like I expected her to. Crying so hard that she moved that little extra and the needle no longer drew the blood the phlebotomist needed so she had to get poked again in her other arm. After experiencing the first arm, she barely squeaked with the second and watched in fascination as the vials filled up with blood.

(showing off her “band-aids” from when the flipotomiss drew blood)

I talked to the dr. later that night and thankfully it wasn’t pneumonia just a virus on top of a virus. I hoped it wouldn’t catch but as soon as we got home I found out that Boo too was burning up. Classic.

Here we are 5 days later and they’re both still running a small fever, hacking up lungs and raw from getting their noses wiped constantly. We’re all going stir crazy! I hope tomorrow brings a better day.

My sewing machine is nothing fancy. It’s a brother, a cheap one but it’s been good to me. I got it from an old boss who bought it at an auction for $75. It has it’s little quirks though. The tension has to be set at an 8 to get a good stitch, my bobbin case tension likes to slip every so often so I have to go tighten it up again. All these things could be solved by getting it tuned up I suppose but I hate to spend the money on this machine. My plan is just use …

Progress is progress

I’ve been making slow progress on Boo’s sweater. Annoyingly slow. I have a ways to go still but I’m excited that it’s actually looking like a wearable garment more now then it was.

He knows me so well

My dear husband  knows me so well.  For our anniversary we didn’t do anything extravagant because we are on a budget. We just stayed at home the following weekend alone as a couple. Alone! Yes my kids were with my parents so we had the house to ourselves all night long. Best nights sleep I’ve had in years. I didn’t have to worry about listening for small cries from adjacent rooms all night.  I slept so well that I made him go to the gym with me in the morning, he wasn’t to happy about it.

Yes we are on a budget so he thought hard about what he could do for me. He came up with the greatest present. He made me a word search!

I devour word searches. I have loved them for as long as I can remember, one of my favorite Christmas kids that I got as a kid was a word search book in my stocking. Yes I am a dork.

There is nothing better he could have done for me than make me a personalized word search of our life together. Thanks my love!

And yes one night was enough, I couldn’t wait to get hugs from my little ones. I missed them!

Weight in my life

The picture in my profile is very recent. 5 years almost to the day not recent. I put it there to remind me of what used to be and can be again. I’m not writing this to be dramatic, but more to let myself and whoever reads this know where I am at where I used to be when it comes to my weight and my health. 5 years ago I met my husband which changed my lifestyle dramatically. Before I met him I was running 3 miles a day, had just come home from my mission to Nebraska which …

5 wonderful years

I am one lucky girl. 5 years ago I married my true love. People said we were crazy after leaping into marriage after only a few months of knowing each other but we both new it was the right thing for us to do.

My eternal love could make me laugh and still does on a daily basis. I look forward to seeing him everyday after school and work and can’t wait to be held in his arms and get my “excited to see you” kiss. I only sleep well when it’s next to him and love to watch his utter joy as he makes our three children laugh.

I love you honey and can’t wait for the next 5 years. Lets make ‘em good ones!

Vinyl front toy bag

For Christmas my mother gave Bug a set of magnetic dress up dolls. They’re actually very cool and Bug loves them (Boo too actually). The only bad thing about them was the bag (if you can call it that) that they came in. It takes forever for Bug to clean them up because she feels the need to fill every single pocket.  To make a friendlier clean up process I decided to make a different bag for her to use.
